SMS Consent & Opt-In

Last updated: April 1, 2026

How We Collect Consent

TBJ Trucking collects SMS consent from employees during the hiring and onboarding process. When a new employee provides their mobile phone number as part of their employment onboarding, they are informed that TBJ Trucking will use SMS messaging for operational communications including work schedules, route assignments, and company announcements.

Consent Process

Consent is collected through the following methods:

  • Verbal Consent (Primary): During the hiring and onboarding process, a TBJ Trucking manager verbally informs each new employee that the company uses SMS messaging for operational communications including work schedules, route assignments, and company announcements. The employee verbally confirms their consent and provides their mobile phone number. The manager records the date consent was given.
  • Employee Handbook Acknowledgment: All employees sign the TBJ Trucking Employee Handbook, which includes the SMS communication policy under Section 4.11 (Posting of Work Schedules). This written acknowledgment supplements the verbal consent.
  • Operations Platform: Employees provide their mobile phone number through the TBJ Trucking operations platform as part of their employee profile, with notice that the number will be used for schedule notifications and operational communications.

Message Details

  • Program Name: TBJ Trucking Schedule Notifications
  • Message Types: Work schedule notifications, route assignments, shift changes, company announcements, and operational updates.
  • Message Frequency: Varies based on operational needs, typically 1-5 messages per week.
  • Message and data rates may apply.

Opt-Out

Employees may opt out of non-essential SMS messages at any time by texting STOP to our messaging number. A confirmation message will be sent. Operational messages directly related to assigned work schedules during active employment are considered essential workplace communications.
